Indu Sah Foundation Celebrates 6th Anniversary with a purpose " Your Smile is Our Priority"

On the occasion of its 6th anniversary, the Indu Sah Foundation (ISF), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving oral health and providing dental care to underserved communities in Nepal, organized an impactful educational dental program at Angels School in Janakpur, Nepal. This initiative was aimed at empowering children with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain optimal oral hygiene, which is often neglected in rural communities.

A Day of Learning and Impact

The event saw the participation of over 200 school children, who were introduced to essential aspects of oral hygiene and hand hygiene—two crucial factors that are foundational to overall health. Volunteers from Indu Sah Foundation, including Nikhil, Nitesh, and Neha, led the program with enthusiasm and dedication, working as a cohesive team to ensure the smooth execution of the day’s activities.

Teaching the Importance of Oral Hygiene

The first segment of the program focused on educating the children about the significance of brushing and flossing. The volunteers provided an interactive session where they demonstrated the correct brushing technique and explained the benefits of brushing twice a day. Children were taught that good oral hygiene not only prevents tooth decay and gum disease, but also contributes to overall health and well-being.

The children were also educated on the importance of flossing, emphasizing that flossing is as crucial as brushing to remove plaque and food particles from areas between the teeth that toothbrushes cannot reach. This simple yet effective habit can help prevent cavities and gum disease in the long term.

Hand Hygiene Education

In addition to oral health, the ISF volunteers emphasized the importance of hand hygiene as a critical component of overall health. With a demonstration of proper hand-washing techniques, the children learned how to wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water, especially before meals and after using the restroom, to prevent the spread of infections and diseases.

Proper hand-washing, which is often overlooked, is a key preventive measure in reducing the spread of communicable diseases, and teaching children this habit at an early age will help instill lifelong hygiene practices.

Donations and Rewards

As part of the program, oral hygiene kits were donated to all 200 children. Each kit included a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and an educational brochure on the importance of maintaining oral hygiene. The kits were provided to ensure that the children had the tools they needed to practice the healthy habits they had learned.

To make the event even more engaging, a fun quiz on oral health was conducted. The children participated enthusiastically, answering questions about the importance of brushing, flossing, and hand hygiene. Winners were rewarded with small prizes, reinforcing their learning and encouraging them to continue practicing good hygiene at home.

A Ripple Effect on the Community

The significance of this educational program goes beyond the 200 children who participated. As part of the ISF’s vision to create lasting change, it is expected that the children will share the knowledge they gained with their parents, family members, and the broader community. This chain reaction of spreading awareness will amplify the impact of the program, leading to improved oral and hand hygiene practices across families and neighborhoods in Janakpur.

By teaching children healthy habits, the Indu Sah Foundation aims to create a culture of health consciousness that can reduce preventable health issues in the community, fostering a healthier and happier future for all.

Volunteers at the Heart of the Program

The success of this educational initiative was made possible by the hard work and dedication of ISF volunteers Nikhil, Nitesh, and Neha. Their teamwork and passion for promoting health education in rural Nepal played a key role in ensuring that the event was a success.

The ISF team continues to work tirelessly in their mission to raise awareness about the importance of oral health and hygiene in Nepal, and this anniversary program is just one example of their ongoing efforts to improve public health in underserved areas.

Looking Ahead

As Indu Sah Foundation celebrates its 6th anniversary, it remains committed to expanding its efforts and continuing its work in rural Nepal. This educational dental program in Janakpur is part of a larger initiative that aims to reach more schools and communities across the country, empowering people with the knowledge and tools to lead healthier lives.

The foundation’s work, driven by a vision of making quality dental care and health education accessible to all, is helping to create a brighter future for Nepal's underserved communities, one child at a time.

This anniversary celebration marked not only a milestone for the foundation but also a step forward in its ongoing efforts to improve health and well-being across Nepal. The program at Angels School in Janakpur is a shining example of how small actions can have a powerful ripple effect on society, creating lasting change in communities far and wide.
